When we decided to start Smile CBD, we knew the first task was to source only the very best hemp that met our quality requirements.
We searched around the world for the right hemp variety and after a long search, we found producers in the United States who held the same values of quality and commitment, as we do. We chose the Sativa variety due to its naturally high levels of CBD and low levels of THC.
As a family-run business, we want to have a positive effect on the health of our customers and minimise the impact of our operations on the environment. The farms we source from are free from pesticides which boost the quality of the final CBD product and also friendly for the environment it’s grown in.
We have a transparent and honest relationship with our farmers and we can trace back every order of CBD to the specific field where they originate from, building trust with our suppliers. Furthermore, due to the expertise of our farming partners, they have cultivated plants that have naturally occurring hydrocarbons called Terpenes, which lend unique scents to the essential oils.
CBD Extraction Method
There are three common methods for the extraction of CBD and these are Isopropyl Alcohol, Carrier Oil and Supercritical. The first method produces a less pure product due to leaving a toxic residue from the solvents and whilst the second method offers a safe and cheap option, it isn’t designed to adapt to the changing requirements of the CBD market.
We believe the CO2 supercritical method is the best extraction method and this process involves using CO2 to extract pure CBD without using any harmful chemicals. This method is the most expensive of the three but offers a purer, higher quality product that is kinder to the environment.
